"...a person who believes himself or herself an expert or connoisseur in a given field and is condescending toward or disdainful of those who hold other opinions or have different tastes regarding this field: a musical snob.

VINYL
SOMEWHAT SKEPTICAL
VINYL

No, we do not dislike anything digital or anyone who happens to be wearing earbuds. We would love to see those earbuds attached to a turntable backpack, but that hasn’t been invented yet. We are vinyl snobs because we prefer the warm, deep sounds of a needle in its groove. We love the feel of an album and the look of the artwork and the information that it contains. There is much allure and mystery surrounding a vinyl record. It has it’s own history, culture, science. The very experience of pulling a record from it’s sleeve, putting it on the turntable, lifting the needle and letting it drop, has a physical and emotional impact. It conjures memories, it lifts your spirits and it lifts you off the couch and away from the computer!

Vinyl Snob wants to explore the milieu of vinyl. We want to dig deep into the process of making a record, selling a record, listening to a record. What it means to be a vinyl snob, a connoisseur, or just someone who never got rid of their records or someone who just bought their first. We look at vinyl from a current perspective where the industry has re-embraced the format and it is has replaced its replacer, the compact disc. There are only two sides to a disk, but there are many sides to the story of the vinyl record. Join us in our exploration of the medium.
